{"id":3048,"date":"2016-11-07T22:59:12","date_gmt":"2016-11-08T02:59:12","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/electrathonoftampabay.org\/www\/?p=3048"},"modified":"2016-12-18T09:27:09","modified_gmt":"2016-12-18T13:27:09","slug":"back-on-the-big-track-at-middleton","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/electrathonoftampabay.org\/www\/?p=3048","title":{"rendered":"Back on the Big Track at Middleton."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Thank you, Middleton High School Electrathon Team, Faculty, Administration and Bus Drivers from around the County for a great race venue.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After a two year hiatus we were back on the BIG Parking Lot at Middleton.\u00a0 Weather was great and the track was fast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">A new record was set for total overall\u00a0laps.\u00a0 The Old Record was 112 laps set the last time we were on this track in 2013 by the Electrocutioners in the\u00a008 car.\u00a0 That was also before Lithium Ion batteries.\u00a0 The New Record is now 118 laps also set by the Electrocutioners car 08.\u00a0 The record was set this time with the new batteries and a new driver.\u00a0 Pony tore the track up with the next closest\u00a0car 11 laps down.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The High\u00a0School record for total overall laps\u00a0was\u00a0safe.\u00a0 Brandon High School car 09 set that record in 2013\u00a0with 102 laps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Lennard High School was back in action taking 2nd overall in the High School Class.\u00a0 They are working on a second car and bought one of our spare frames.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing what they come up with.\u00a0 Lennard is hosting our next race on December 10th\u00a0and the course looks like a good one with\u00a011 turns and over <strong>2000&#8242;<\/strong> in length.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Robinson Racing was back for the first time this season with a brand new car and an out of state ringer for a driver.\u00a0\u00a0They did very well breaking the new car taking\u00a01st in the Open Class.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our condolences go to Rodney (Tiger Racing) on the loss of his father. We regret that our race was scheduled on the same day of his father\u2019s service. In all of the years that ETO has been racing, this was the first race that Rodney was not able to attend. Sorry for your loss.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cliff from Pro EV was back with us and took a 1st place in the 1st race beating the Electrocutioners car 08 in the Experimental Battery Class on time differential on the last lap.\u00a0 The tire gremlin got him in the second race for a 3rd place finish.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the High School Class there was a lot of tight racing all day.\u00a0 Brandon had controller problems with the 9 car and the 14 car lost laps due to chain problems.\u00a0 Lennard High School ran strong in both races taking a\u00a02nd in the first race and a 1st in the second race finishing 2nd overall in High School.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The Middleton Tigers ran strong with the 80 car taking 1st overall in High School.\u00a0 The 365 car, the Duck Car, took 3rd.\u00a0 The 133 car had battery problems in the second race and finished the race but down in the lap count.\u00a0 All three of their cars ran well in both races.\u00a0\u00a0 After two hours of racing the top three cars were separated by\u00a0four laps.\u00a0 All the\u00a0Middleton cars are running at least 36v using smaller batteries but at higher motor RPM.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There were some glitches in our scoring system with several cars having transmitter problems.\u00a0 We were able to keep track using hand scoring.\u00a0 We have added more transmitters and now have some set aside with 9v batteries as emergency spares to be installed mid race using\u00a0every racers standby DUCT TAPE.\u00a0 We did that on the 133 car in the second race with no loss of laps.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">24v, 36v, 48v, 60v,\u00a0more lighter batteries, fewer heavy batteries, aerodynamics, Lithium Ion, AGM, gear ratios, driver discipline and computer programming\u00a0are\u00a0just some of the\u00a0factor that go into a successful race car\/team.\u00a0 Look around the pits the next race and see who is\u00a0doing what.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">High School Class:\u00a01<sup>st<\/sup> Place Middleton 80,\u00a02<sup>nd<\/sup> Place Lennard 86, 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Place Middleton 365, 4<sup>th<\/sup> Place Brandon 14, 5<sup>th<\/sup> Place Middleton 133, 6<sup>th<\/sup> Place Brandon 9<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Open Class:\u00a0 1<sup>st<\/sup> Place Robinson Racing 94, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place HCC 13<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Experimental Battery Class:\u00a0 1<sup>st<\/sup> Place Electrocutioners 8, 2<sup>nd<\/sup> Place Electrocutioners 72, 3<sup>rd<\/sup> Place Pro EV 39<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Everyone have a great Thanksgiving and looking forward to seeing everyone at the December Parade in Longwood and at Lennard for the next race.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Vic<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/5wbqcNGAwSE?start=3&#038;feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Thank you, Middleton High School Electrathon Team, Faculty, Administration and Bus Drivers from around the County for a great race venue.
