{"id":3328,"date":"2017-04-09T21:48:49","date_gmt":"2017-04-10T01:48:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/electrathonoftampabay.org\/www\/?p=3328"},"modified":"2017-04-09T21:48:49","modified_gmt":"2017-04-10T01:48:49","slug":"middleton-high-school-round-two","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/electrathonoftampabay.org\/www\/?p=3328","title":{"rendered":"Middleton High School Round Two"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"474\" height=\"267\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/u1ndQO4TKek?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"autoplay; encrypted-media\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After the Fairgrounds race was canceled Middleton High School stepped up to host a second race on their home turf.\u00a0 This time the track was much longer and more difficult.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The new layout was rougher than in the past and had some real tight turns causing more than one car to try some off road driving.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Middleton had their snack stand working and had pizza, drinks and snacks.\u00a0 It was much appreciated by all the racers and spectators.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It worked out well for them as they took top honors in the High School\u00a0Class both\u00a0times.\u00a0 Car 80 took the first race back in\u00a0November and the 365 car took the top spot\u00a0this time out.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">After eight races and with only one remaining in the season Brandon and Middleton are in a dead heat.\u00a0 The Brandon 14 car and the Middleton 365 car are tied with 430 points each.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Brandon started the day in the lead in the\u00a0point\u2019s standings but battery problems and a busted chain beset\u00a0their #14 car and it finished in 4th place.\u00a0 Middleton jumped in and helped with the chain or the 14 car would have had an even worse day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Middleton took the top three spots with a steady performance by all three of their cars,\u00a0with the 365 on top at the end of the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In the Open Class it was Tiger Racings #4\u00a0taking both\u00a0races against a much improved HCC car.\u00a0 The #4\u00a0car was one lap behind the top Experimental Battery car that was the top car for the day.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The USF car had a rough day with\u00a0a busted wheel in the first race and more wheel problems in the second race but is\u00a0making steady progress.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">High School Class<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st<\/strong> Middleton 365,\u00a02nd Middleton 133, <strong>3rd<\/strong> Middleton 80, <strong>4th<\/strong> Brandon 14, <strong>5th<\/strong> Brandon 9<\/p>\n<p>Open Class<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st<\/strong> Tiger Racing 4, <strong>2nd<\/strong> HCC 13<\/p>\n<p>Experimental Battery Class<\/p>\n<p><strong>1st<\/strong>\u00a0Electrocutioners 72, 2nd Electrocutioners 8, <strong>3rd<\/strong> Electrocutioners 90, 4th USF\u00a0132<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">There are several out of town races scheduled by other groups and for the last two months of the school year and we will have cars at\u00a0all of them.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Our last race of the year will be at the Florida Solar Energy Center in Cocoa in\u00a0May.\u00a0 The track will be longer than last year\u2019s.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing teams from central\u00a0Florida and\u00a0the East Coast.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The High School Class will be decided at this race so we look for a hard fought race between the 14 and 365 cars for the top spot and bragging rights<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the Fairgrounds race was canceled Middleton High School stepped up to host a second race on their home turf.\u00a0 This time the track was much longer and more difficult.
