We want to thank Brandon Electrathon Sponsor Tim Ruman and his Administration for allowing us to reschedule the Brandon Dash 120.
Our next Electrathon race is Saturday, April 10th at Brandon High School located at 1101 Victoria Street. This is our dash race day, the races are only 20 minutes. We will also have the team sponsors and ETO Executive Board 20 minute race (no advanced batteries cars in this race). We are still following our safety and health guidelines and masks are required.

We have monitored the weather forecast for quite some time and due to the percentage for rain on Saturday, March 6th, we are canceling the race at Brandon High School. Due to spring break for schools we will not have a race in March.

We are still monitoring the weather forecast for Saturday, March 6th race at Brandon HS. Rain chances are currently at 70% Accu Weather and 50% National Weather Service. We will make a decision on the race no later than noon on Thursday, March 4th.

Electrathon of Tampa Bay / Electrathon of Florida will hold their next race event on March 6, 2021 at Brandon High School, located at 1101 Victoria Street, Brandon Florida 33510.

This event is one of our most exciting days for our teams and members. Our ETO Teams, Sponsors / Principals and Executive Board Members will DASH around the oval track at the safest and fastest rate of speed that their car can perform for 20 minutes. Once again, the key is “SAFEST”.

Our race steward, will black flag any driver/car that is not operating with safe driving techniques or any visual concerns with the car.

Reminder: any team that has students under the age of 18 years of age, must bring or have on file with ETO the parent / minor waiver forms for the student to participate at the event.

We held our second race at Plant City High School on Saturday, February 20th. We want to thank PCHS Sponsor David Kocher and the Administration for hosting the event.

As teams arrived there was a cool breeze in the air that made you move around to a stay warm. We welcome back Electrathon Teams from Lennard HS and University of South Florida.

Eleven cars lined up for the first race, as Charlie was getting ready to video the start, he said the word “GO” for Trish to start the computer scoring systems count down and off went the car for our very first ever false start.

As teams lined up a second time to start the race, line positions changed and the USF car was in the pits for an issue.

During the first race drivers did real well. On the sharp turn by the pit area, team Fortuna came in too fast and the rear wheel lost grip causing the car to spin out, the driver (Mike) quickly recovered and back into the race he went. The Lennard HS cars were impressive after being gone from the track for quite some time.

At the end of the first race Plant City HS car 210 had 68 laps and Lennard car 78 hot on their heels with 62 laps. Both PCHS car 208 and Lennard car 86 had 49 laps. In our open class it was Silver Bullet (1st) and Tiger Racing (2nd) both finishing with 89 laps. Mulberry finished with 86 laps, Titans with 77 laps and HCC with 67 laps. In our advanced battery class USF finished with 92 laps and Fortuna 87 laps.

Between our races we have a 30 minute time frame for teams to run practice laps. The USF team made it to the first turn and slid into the curbing causing structural damage and they were done for the day.

In the second race the teams met some challenges.

Fortuna had a steering issue that caused them to enter the race late. Tiger Racing had a tire issue that put them out of the race early. Silver Bullet gave a friendly tap to the back of the Fortuna car. HCC had throttle control issues that put them out of the race early. Titans had a tire issue and had to change it out, and then the chain came off.

At the end of the second race PCHS 210 had 89 laps, Lennard 78 had 63 laps, PCHS 208 had 61 laps and Lennard 86 had 43 laps. After a late start Fortuna did 37 laps. In the open class it was a close race for 1st place. Silver Bullet had 88 laps, Mulberry 87 laps, Tiger Racing 59 laps, Titans 40 laps and HCC 27 laps.

The final results for the day of STEM Racing at Plant City High School were: High School 1st Place, Plant City car 210 157 laps and fastest HS lap of 33.503 2nd Place, Lennard car 78 125 laps 3rd Place, Plant City car 208 110 laps 4th Place, Lennard car 86 92 laps Open Class 1st Place, Silver Bullet 177 laps 2nd Place, Mulberry 173 laps 3rd Place, Tiger Racing 148 laps 4th Place, Titans 117 laps5th Place, HCC 94 laps Advanced Battery Class 1st Place Fortuna 124 laps and the fastest lap overall with 33.024 2nd Place, USF 92 laps.

Our next race will be held at Brandon High School on March 6th. This race is our “DASH RACE” and “SPONSOR RACE”.

We did here back from our friends in Georgia.

We contacted the folks in Alabama and found out the Electrathon Races at Barber Motorsports probably will not happen this year.

We contacted the folks in North Florida about the Pensacola, Five Flags Electrathon Races. No decisions have been made on whether the race will happen this year.

We reached out to Chambers County folks about their Electrathon Races and have not heard back from them.

We reached out to Georgia Electrathon about any races they may have this year and have not heard back from them.

Saturday morning came and there was a fresh cool breeze at Wharton High School as teams arrived. Okay it was downright cold, jackets and gloves were worn and hot coffee consumed to stay warm.

We thank Wharton Electrathon Team Sponsor Chris Hart and his Administration for hosting our first race of 2021.

Drivers were bundled up as Mike Frederick (Race Steward) conducted the drivers meeting

Teams lined up for the first race to begin, as the green flag dropped, teams started their one hour race.

Everything was going well until Fortuna car 444 clipped a cone in one of the turns sending it up onto its side and roll bar before stopping on its side. Plant City High School (PCHS) car 210 was behind them and ran into the curb bending their tire rim.  Both drivers were fine, no injuries other than scratches to roll bar and helmet on the Fortuna car and driver helmet. The bent rim ended the race day for Plant City car 210. The Fortuna car was checked and then got back into the race. A few laps later the Plant City HS Car 208 ended their day after continued issues with throttle and loss of power.

At the end of the first race:
High School Division: PCHS car 210 had completed 22 laps and PCHS car 208 completed 12 laps.

Open Division: Tiger Racing completed 66 laps, Mulberry completed 64 laps, Titans completed 57 laps and Hillsborough Community College completed 47 laps.

Advanced Division: Fortuna completed 42 laps.

Between races everyone went into hibernation to get/stay warm.

Only five cars lined up for the second race.

It was a battle the entire second race between Mulberry and Tiger Racing. Mulberry Driver Todd Thuma stepped up his pace and did the fastest lap for all divisions with a 43.625. The Fortuna team blew a tire and changed it quickly to get back into the race. 

At the end of second race:

Open Division Mulberry completed 75 laps, Tiger completed 73 laps, Titans completed 59 laps and HCC completed 45 laps.

Advanced Division Fortuna completed 25 laps. 

After the results of both races were calculated and the total race times for teams with same lap totals were figured: 

High School Division: Plant City High School Car 210 took 1st Place

Plant City High School Car 208 took 2nd Place

Open Division: Mulberry and Tiger both completed 139 laps so it came down to total race time, Mulberry 1st Place with 119 minutes of race time,

Tiger 2nd Place with 120 minutes of race time

Titans 3rd Place with 116 laps

Hillsborough Community College (HCC) 4th Place with 92 laps

Advanced Division: Fortuna 1st Place with 67 laps
