Katelyn Allan Receives The Van Guard Award

katelyn-robinCongratulations to Middleton High School Senior  Katelyn Allan for winning The Swope, Rodante Vanguard Award for her public service, leadership and dedication.

Katelyn has been a member of the Middleton JROTC for four years. She was chosen the corps commander this year out of approximately 140 cadets because of her exceptional leadership skills and commitment to the corps.

Katelyn is a member of Middleton’s Electrathon Race Club. She helps build and works on the teams’ Electrathon car. She is the lead driver for her team, driving in numerous races throughout the year and represents her school at ETO Board Meetings.

Katelyn has played Fast Pitch Softball on the Middleton team for three years and plans to play again this year for her senior year. She is a pitcher and has won at least 15 Most Valuable Player (MVP) awards for Middleton. She also was selected the MVP of the Year her sophomore year for exceptional teamwork and pitching. The following year she was selected team captain. In addition, she is also a member of the Next Level Softball League which plays on a yearly basis. She pitches for this league and travels with the team to games in Florida and throughout the country.

Because of Katelyn’s athletic ability and commitment to softball, she has earned a full athletic scholarship to Palm Beach State College and has verbally committed to playing with them next year.

After graduation from Middleton High School where she is in the magnet program for Engineering (one of only 28.5% females in the Engineering program), Katelyn aspires to play softball on her two year scholarship at Palm Beach State College. The University of Central Florida has been in contact with her to consider continuing her softball career at UCF her last two years and speaking to her about a secondary scholarship.

Katelyn plans to major in Mechanical Engineering in college and after graduation plans to join the U.S. Air Force as an officer.
